DESCRIPTION:20th Annual Women Singing in Circle Retreat\n\n\n\nSeptember 2-6\n\n\n\nat the Pecos Benedictine Monastery\, Pecos\, NM \n\n\n\nco-led by Terry Garthwaite\, Kate Munger\, Melanie DeMore and Becky Reardon\n\n\n\nAfter an exhaustive search\, we have found a new venue for our week of singing together. The Pecos Monastery is a Benedictine Abbey\, 30 miles east of Santa Fe\, in 1000 acres of wilderness\, dedicated to opening “our doors for those who seek peace and refuge in a world caught up in change.” It’s not the same as Lama AND the paths are smoother and all the accomodations are inside. It’s easily accessed by train (and an Uber) from Lamy and Shuttles can be arranged from ABQ. (more photos on their website pecosmonastery.org) \n\n\n\nAs has been the case for so many years at the Lama Foundation\, Kate Munger\, Terry Garthwaite\, and Melanie DeMore will be joining me to to lead you in songs that will lift your spirits\, celebrate our community\, tickle your funny bone\, lead you to meditative spaces\, and give you a sense of rest and peace. \n\n\n\nThe retreat takes place over 5 days\, September 2 – 6. We’ll begin on Monday\, Labor Day at dinner\, and conclude on Friday after breakfast. There are 46 dormitory rooms\, some singles\, some doubles\, all with bathrooms. Our singing format will be very similar to what we’ve done for 20 years at Lama…we will sing a lot. We are asking a sliding scale $750 – $950. All the rooms are the same price. The sliding scale for women wishing to stay off-campus is $575-775. \n\n\n\nSince this is our first time at a new place\, we’ll have one program only…no pre-conference songwriting this time. Becky performs and leads singing workshops and retreats\, using improvised singing and movement to inspire singers to write their own songs. In home state of New Mexico\, she plays with her band “Shepherd Moon”. Be on the lookout for Becky’s new songbook for all ages\, with illustrations by Taos\, NM Middle School art students whose wonderful teacher is Christine Autumn.
